GO IRFANVIEW!

I COULD JUST KISS THIS GUY! GO IRFAN!

How is it that major companies like Adobe – and with it my favorite addiction, Photoshop – can’t do what Irfanview has done?

All I wanted to do is to start batch resizing my photographs, convert them to jpgs and slap a simple watermark on them. Too much to ask apparently, at least as far as Photoshop was concerned. Yes, of course I could have written an action. But I want stuff spoonfed to me every once in a while, especially as far as something that seems so routine is concerned.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Photoshop. It has literally changed my life. However, for some stupid reason I thought CS3 had this built in or something. It sort of does with the Image Processor, but it’s only half-cooked. Like they started developing it, broke for lunch, came back to the meeting and somehow forgot to finish it. WHAT A LETDOWN.

Enter: Irfanview. God knows where I dug this up, and I know for sure it has been around for a while. To me it was the revelation at 11 PM in the evening. It only took a few minutes to confidently batch process 170 files, and I’m sure it could have done more. Now all I have to do is to upload them where I want them, and THAT’S IT.

Gotta love it! Download it here.
