Kidron Livestock Auction in Black & White

January 11th, 2010

It’s amazing how tirelessly you can work when you are truly drawn into something. Since posting them in color, I have been converting all 98 photos from the Kidron series into black and white.

And, as the pros out there can attest to, there is no cookie-cutter approach to digital black and white – even when you’re using such an awesome tool like Silver Efex Pro (I can’t believe I used to do this the long way…).

Anyway.

I like them better in black and white. What’s your take?

Love the last one. It says so much. These are great Sofie. The first in the series is classic, timeless. Black and white was a very good choice.

As always, I so appreciate you taking the time to look and comment. These took a long time to produce, but I feel it was well worth it.

Sofie, these B&W conversions are great! My personal favorite is number 1 for sure!
Is this all done with Silver Efex ?

Thank you very much. Yes, all done w/ Silver Efex. I had a demo version first, then decided to buy it. IMHO it’s well worth it, even though it’s a little clunky. But then, you can’t do good B&W conversions in bulk anyway. Here, I did a “master” profile, then adapted it. And the control points help you fine-tune tremendously.

Thank you for leaving a comment! I know what you mean. The diversity at the auction was great, too.
