#Adobe #Bridge CS3 Crash Resolved (?!)

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve had MASSIVE issues with Adobe Bridge CS3. After a botched upload to my Smugmug account via Bridge, the whole thing just DIED. I don’t believe Smugmug was the issue. Rather the fact that Bridge was apparently not as stable as I had thought.

Of course, there weren’t any solutions to be found anywhere online, as it so often happens. Not on any groups, and naturally not on Adobe’s website itself.

The good thing is, in the meantime I’ve done what I should have done months ago, and switched to Lightroom, which I ADORE. I don’t know how I could have processed ANY pictures, especially large numbers of them, any other way.

But I digress.

I needed an file browser where I could preview Photoshop files easily. Bridge was already there, albeit not functioning. Today I decided to fiddle around with it, sort of combining some half-solutions for other similar issues I had found online. The following seems to have fixed it for the time being – at least I’m cautiously optimistic. It applies to a Windows Vista platform, but maybe it can be replicated elsewhere.

Rename or delete the following folders: C:\Users\[USER NAME]\AppData\Adobe\Bridge CS3 and …\Online Services. When you start Bridge, hold down the CTRL+SHIFT keys, check all the reset boxes and… hold your breath. It worked for me.
